Awarding the competition winners of the Creative Media – Baku and Green Solidarity and Sustainable Development in Media

The awarding ceremony of the Creative Media Baku content competition, announced from October 1 to 20 by the organization of the Media Development Agency and AzerGold CJSC was organized for the winners.

Training of young, vigorous, talented and skilled journalists who meet the requirements of contemporary media is very urgent and the Creative Media Baku content competition organized within the MEDIAlab project is one of the important initiatives in this direction, mentioned Laman Isgandarova at her speech, Director of the Media Support Projects, Strategic Planning and Information Technologies Department of the Media Development Agency. 

A mentor meeting has been organized during the competition period, for the finalists of the Creative Media Baku content competition with the participation of Vafa Isgandarova, Head of Nakhchivan Regional Office of the Media Development Agency, and Konul Niftaliyeva, Associate Professor at New Media and Communication Theory Department of Baku State University. During the meeting, the mentors analyzed the online newspaper materials and stories by the young journalists and provided them with appropriate recommendations.

Global environmental issues and sustainable development have already acquired a new content and the topics covered by the Creative Media Baku content competition meet the challenges of the modern world, said Leyla Sadikhova, Advisor at AzerGold CJSC. She highly appreciated the reportages of the young journalists which reflected creative and new approaches in fighting against climate changes.

At the end of the ceremony, the winners of the competition were awarded.

An idea competition entitled Green Solidarity and Sustainable Development in Media was also organized within the ceremony for young students who study journalism and communication or are interested in these spheres.

Zarifa Zulfugarova, the winner of the 2024 Presidential Award for the Youth with special distinction in the field of youth policy and working with the youth, Head of the International Relations Section of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, informed the participants of the event about the main principles and objectives of sustainable development within the idea competition of Green Solidarity and Sustainable Development in Media, and about the preparation process and guidelines of the competition. Following the session, within 30 minutes the participants prepared presentations on the topics Environmental Initiatives: Green Ideas and Zero Emission: Healthy Future. The best presentations were awarded at the event. The importance of such projects which serve to develop the knowledge and skills of young students, and which provide great opportunities for their initiatives was highlighted during the ceremony.
