AzerGold launches newly-reconstructed minifootball, volleybal-basketball courts

On October 24-28, "AzerGold" Closed Joint Stock Company held a mini-football tournament among schools of Dashkasan region dedicated to the memory of the Rauf Askerov, martyr of the Patriotic War.

6 teams consisting of schoolchildren born in 2009-2011 from Secondary School No. 1 named after Imadaddin Nasimi, Secondary School No. 2 named after Anar Mursalov, Secondary School No. 4 named after Samad Vurgun, Secondary School named after Zahir Bagirov of Yukhari Dashkasan settlement, Bayan village secondary school named after Mikayil Mustafayev and Gushchu village secondary school named after Ali Ismayilov participated in the tournament organized by the Youth and Sports Department of Dashkasan region.

The final match of the tournament was held as the official opening ceremony on the occasion of the launch of the mini-football, universal volleyball-basketball courts upon the reconstruction works on October 28 on the field which is owned  by Dashkasan Iron Ore LLC, AzerGold’s subsidiary company.

Before the final match, AzerGold’s staff visited the grave of martyr Rauf Askerov in Ganja Martyrs' Alley, laid wreaths and flowers on it, and commemorated him with respect and honor.

Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Executive Board of "AzerGold" CJSC, Ahad Abiyev, Head of Dashkasan District Executive Power, Taleh Nasibov, President of Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation, representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the community members, who participated in the opening ceremony of the courts, also watched the final match of the tournament.

The team of school No. 2 named after Anar Mursalov won the first place in the final match. The 2nd and 3rd places were shared between the secondary school of Yukhari Dashkasan settlement named after Zahir Bagirov and Gushchu village secondary school named after Ali Ismayilov.

Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Executive Board of "AzerGold" CJSC, who made a speech at the awarding ceremony, congratulated the winners of the tournament. He noted that the reconstruction of the playgrounds aims to contribute to the development of sports, promotion of a healthy lifestyle, physical education of teenagers and youth in Dashkasan in accordance with the state programs approved by Mr. President regarding the socio-economic development of the regions. The chairman added that as a result of the pro-social policy implemented by Mr. President, today our regions are rapidly developing, whereas the welfare of the population is constantly improving, and our people from vulnerable categories are surrounded with great care and attention. At the same time, viable actions are being taken towards the healthy development of our youth and their upbringing in the spirit of high patriotism. The modern Olympic sports complexes and stadiums that meet international standards opened by the head of state in the regions, along with the capital Baku, lead to an increase of the interest of the youth in sport, and to the further rise of Azerbaijan's international reputation as a country of sports. In this regard, the new sports infrastructure opened in Dashkasan serves to increase the interest of children, teenagers and young people living in the region in sports, and to foster the popularity of sports within the framework of AzerGold’s active corporate social responsibility policy which is implemented based on the tasks and recommendations of Mr. President to state institutions.

Emphasizing the certainty that the launch of courts by "AzerGold" CJSC will boost the development of sports in Dashkasan, the head of the Dashkasan District Executive Authority, Ahad Abiyev, noted that the mini-football tournament revealed the potential of our talented youth. Ahad Abiyev pointed out that a number of successful socio-cultural projects serving for the development of young people in the region were implemented by AzerGold, and these projects made great contributions to the socio-economic development of the region.

Taleh Nasibov, the president of the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation, in his speech underlined that the launch of the minifootball courts in the regions and organization of such tournaments will foster the popularity of the mini-football in the regions, as well as Dashkasan.

Later, the winning school teams of the mini-football tournament, as well as the winners of "The top scorer" and "The best goalkeeper" nominations were awarded. Cups, medals, diplomas and souvenirs were presented to the winners of the tournament.
