AzerGold and Haydar Aliyev Foundation jointly launch regional autism center in Ganja

With the view to promote the individual development of people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ensure early diagnosis and intensive rehabilitation, and conduct enlightenment work, a regional autism center is launched with the support of AzerGold CJSC and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and the organization of the Birge ve Saglam (Together and Healthy) Public Union.

The project implemented jointly with the (“Birgə və Sağlam”) Together and Healthy Public Union will cover people with ASD and their families in Ganja city and surrounding districts, including Dashkasan, Goygol, Goranboy, Shamkir and Tovuz.

The families across the region will undergo a medical and psychoeducational examination by local and international specialists, and the number of children and teenagers at risk and those in need of special educational support will be determined in the center. Then they will be involved in the training and rehabilitation process according to their needs, such as pre-school education, professional development, self-management, and obtaining skills of living independently.

Moreover, the regional autism center will also organize support programs for the parents of children with ASD, and preparatory courses for a group of doctors, specialists engaged in the fields of remedial education, preschool education, psychology, elementary school teaching, social work, and special education in the region. In the theoretical training to be held by local and international specialists, the participants will be able to advance their  knowledge about the scientific therapy methods used in the recovery process of people with ASD. Upon successful completion of theoretical training, in the practical training the participants will develop their skills for working with such children.

The practical training will be conducted at the Autism Center of the Public Union in Baku. All the above mentioned activities will be free.

Notably, Together and Healthy PU was establihed in 2013 with the aim to contribute to the growth and development of children with ASD. The Public Union which keeps close cooperation with Haydar Aliyev Foundation, Ministry of Education, Ministry of labor and Social Protection of Population, State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, as well as various high schools and private organisations,  has introduced ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) advanced training method in our country and supports the people with ASD in compliance with this curriculum.

It is worth reminding that, "AzerGold" CJSC implements consistent measures towards covering the population who live  adjacent to the project areas with comprehensive care, increasing the residents' access to medical services, timely and correct identification of diseases in children, preventive examination culture for minors and promotion of a healthy lifestyle. Within the framework of campaigns organized in Dashkasan with the support of the Company, more than 1000 citizens, including 600 minors, have benefited from medical examination, outpatient treatment and preventive services, and have been provided with appropriate medicines.
