Event dedicated to “1 March World Civil Defense Day” held at AzerGold’s Chovdar Ore Processing Area

Event on the theme of "Strong civil defense to protect the national economy" was held on March 1, 2021 at AzerGold’s Chovdar Ore Processing Area on the occasion of World Civil Defense Day.

The online event was attended by Ogtay Mammadov, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, Orkhan Novruzov, Advisor to the Chairman of the Executive Board, Elmar Valiyev, Deputy Chairman of Dashkasan Emergency Situations Commission and the representatives of Red Crescent Society and Ganja Regional Center of Emergency Situations Ministry.

The speeches were made on the role, purpose, and duties of the civil defense, importance of enlightening every citizen in order to guarantee people’s security during peace and war. It was noted that, every year large scale events are held on the occasion of World Civil Defense Day all over the republic with the view to make exchange of information about emergency situations and to raise the awareness about the history, goals and duties of civil defense, as well as the precautions to be followed during such situations.

Ogtay Mammadov, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board pointed out that, AzerGold’s main duties include the provision of employees’ security, safe work condition and trainings on the defense from emergency situations with the support of relevant structural bodies. It is no coincidence that the number of working hours without injuries since the launch of the Company has exceeded 2 million. This is a very high figure for an enterprise which has been operating for 4 years.

Ogtay Mammadov noted that civil defense work in all facilities and areas of the Company will continue to be built in compliance to modern requirements, and necessary measures will be taken to protect the population and territories from emergencies.

It is worth noting that the World Civil Defense Day is a special day dedicated to the establishment of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) on March 1, 1972. This day is announced upon the decision of the UN and is celebrated every year as a mass humanitarian event around the world. International Civil Defense Day is traditionally devoted to a specific problem every year.
