The Chovdar gold deposit, located near the village of Chovdar in the northern part of Dashkasan region, is the first mining project of AzerGold CJSC. The mining operations in this deposit was started in 2017. In 2016, the gold reserve of the deposit was estimated at 179 000 ounces. However, applied optimization methods and additional exploration works in 2018-2019, increased the gold reserve of the deposit to 609 000 ounces.
From 2017 to 2021, AzerGold CJSC has realized the first phase of the deposit – the oxide phase – resulted in the production of 243 355 ounces of gold.
The exploitation of the Chovdar gold deposit at the second phase – sulphide phase – started in September of 2020. The marketable gold reserve is estimated at 366 122 ounces at this phase.
