AzerGold CJSC has held the next environmental campaign as part of the project of reproduction of red-listed rare and endangered plant species growing in the Dashkasan region and their reintroduction to the areas where they historically grew. The campaign was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Board of AzerGold CJSC, Oqtay Mammadov, experts from the Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Science and Education, and the Company’s employees.

During the campaign, a mass planting of rare plant species such as Rosa Zangezura Jarosch. (Zangazur Rosehip), Rosa Nisami Sosn. (Nizami Rosehip), Rosa Pulverulenta M. Bieb (Bull Rosehip), Malus Orientalis Mill. (Oriental Apple), Fagus Orientalis L. (Oriental Beech), Carpinus betulus L. (Common Hornbeam), Acer Trautvetteri L. (Trautvetter Birch), Fraxinus Excelsior L. (Common Blueberry), Pyrus Caucasica L. (Caucasian Pear), Pyrus Salicifolia Pall. (Willow-leafed Pear), Euonymus Grandiflorus Wall. (Large-flowered Spindle Tree), Frangula Grandiflora A. Pool. (Large-flowered Frangula), Jasminum Fruticans L. (Wild Jasmine), Inula Grandiflora (Large-flowered Inula), and Centaurea Pseudocabiosa Boiss. (False Umbelliferous Cornflower) has been performed.

It should be recalled that AzerGold CJSC's project of reproduction and reintroduction of rare and endangered plant species was first implemented in 2021-2022. As part of the project, in November-December, endangered plants were identified in the mountains surrounding the Chovdar mine, and their seeds were collected with the direct participation of the employees of the Institute of Botany and the Central Botanical Garden. Over a year, the seeds were sorted, dried with appropriate drugs, and cultivated under special agrotechnical conditions in an experimental area. As part of the first project, in November 2022, Rosa Zangezura Jarosch. (Zangazur Rosehip), Rosa Nisami Sosn. (Nizami Rosehip), Rosa Pulverulenta M. Bieb (Bull Rosehip), and Frangula Grandiflora A. Pool. (Large-flowered Frangula) plant species were identified and reproduced in the areas where they historically grew. The current year's project ensured the reintroduction of more plant species in the Dashkasan region.

It is worth noting that as a state-owned company representing the country's mining industry, AzerGold CJSC takes the measures required to manage mining operations more effectively from an ecological standpoint and minimize environmental impacts of the production. Herewith, as part of the Company's Social Impact and Responsibility Policy, voluntary work, tree planting, and other greening mass actions are regularly arranged to preserve ecological balance. As part of these measures, to date, more than 14,000 trees and shrubs suitable for local conditions have been planted, and green areas have been expanded in the Chovdar mine and surrounding areas.
