AzerGold CJSC started research and evaluation of another deposit in Eastern Zangazur

AzerGold Closed Joint-Stock Company started research and evaluation works in Shorbulag ore deposits located in the Eastern Zangazur economic region. The main objective is the evaluation of the early deposits.

At the initial stage, according to the research programme of the Company, camera evaluation and remote investigations were carried out here. A non-invasive hyperspectral imaging was used in research to identify prospective zones in a short time and to save on expensive drilling work. In addition, collection, systematization and digitization of geological materials were also implemented. Based on the results of this year’s large-scale research and evaluation work, appropriate decisions will be made about the next research stage and drilling works in the field.

The Shorbulag area is located in the basin of the Levchay River, which is the left tributary of the Tartarchay River in Kalbajar region. The presence of gold, chromium and mercury metals is predicted in the area. This area was discovered in 1958.

It should be noted, currently AzerGold CJSC is carrying out geological research in several directions. According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr Ilham Aliyev, dated 22 June 2023, general geological research works are being carried out together with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources throughout the country, in addition to the ore fields managed by the Company. Furthermore, monitoring, inspection, research and evaluation of mineral resources are being carried out by AzerGold in accordance with the 1st State Programme on the Great Return to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
