“AzerGold” CJSC pays tribute to martyrs of 20 January tragedy

On January 18, a memorial ceremony was conducted at the head office of “AzerGold” CJSC and in Chovdar Ore Processing Area located in Dashkasan district to pay tribute to martyrs of bloody 20 January tragedy.

Employees giving a speech during the ceremony, talked about the significance of the event happened 27 years ago in the history of Azerbaijan. It was mentioned that although the history of 20 January has been committed to people’s memory with bloody letters, at the same time it must be considered as the beginning of the history of the struggle for independence. The foundation for separation of Azerbaijan from the Soviet Empire was laid upon abovementioned events.

It was stated that the work performed by the head of the state Ilham Aliyev so that 20 January tragedy can be decently evaluated on a worldwide basis has caused this tragedy to be commemorated in more countries annually. The Presidential decree about the plan of actions respecting commemoration of anniversary of “20 January” tragedy helps not forget this proud history and teach it to younger generations.
