At the event, other business entities and NGOs were also awarded, who attach importance to environmental protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems, implement projects in this area, and take initiatives in the field of environmental education.

It should be noted that AzerGold CJSC contributes to economic development with its mining activity as one of the key state exporters that hold leading positions in the non-oil sector of our country while constantly keeping in mind the goals of sustainable development in the areas of its responsibility and providing consistent and systematical support for the environmental protection.

Recall that last year, the Joint-Stock Company implemented a project for the reproduction of red-listed rare and endangered plant species growing in the Dashkasan region and their reintroduction to the areas of their historical growth. As part of the ecological project started in 2021, endangered plants were identified in the mountains around the Chovdar gold mine located in the Dashkesan region, and their seeds were collected. Over a year, those seeds were sorted, dried using appropriate drugs, and grown in the experimental field. As a result, Rosa Zangezura Jarosch. (Zangazur Rosehip), Rosa Nisami Sosn. (Nizami Rosehip), and other plant species were propagated in areas of their historical growth. Information on measures to protect plant species was included in the new 3rd edition of the “Red Book” of the Republic of Azerbaijan, published in 2023.

Information on rare plant protection measures was included in the new - 3rd edition of the Red List of the Republic of Azerbaijan, published last year.

Herewith, the CJSC continued to contribute to environmental protection last year by arranging tree-planting, greening, and riverbank cleaning campaigns in the production areas.
