AzerGold contributes to the promotion of national culture in the framework of “The Year of Nizami Ganjavi”

Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre premiered "A new letter to Iskandar" as part of the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi" on December 18, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the sponsorship of AzerGold Closed Joint-Stock Company.

The stage director of the play is Honoured Art Worker Mehriban Alakbarzadeh, the set designer is Honoured Cultural Worker Ilham Elkhanoglu, and the author of the work is Ilgar Fahmi.

The "A new letter to Iskandar" project aims to retransmit Nizami's legacy through performance art. The main goal of the project is to modernise Nizami's philosophy in the modern art thinking. The new literary basis produced by the writer-dramatist Ilgar Fahmi based on the motives of Nizami Ganjavi's poem "Iskandarnameh" is an imaginary sequel of the poem "A new letter to Iskandar". The events in the poem continue along the same line in the play.

The government officials, cultural figures who took part at the premiere watched the play with great interest. Notably, “A new letter to Iskandar” will continue to be staged at the Academic National Drama Theatre.
