Opening ceremony of the “Treasure” Museum Exposition in Icherisheher

On May 21, on the initiative of Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve and support by AzerGold Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) the opening ceremony of the “Treasure” museum exposition, dedicated to the Azerbaijani jewelry art and numismatics, was held at the Shirvanshahs Palace Complex. Officials of state organizations, Members of Parliament, heads of state and private companies, as well as cultural icons and artists attended the ceremony.

Shahin Seyidzade, Chairman of the Executive Board of Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve, gave a speech at the opening ceremony. Mr Seyidzade noted that the presented “Treasure” museum exposition at the Shirvanshahs Palace Complex, which is included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List, is of great importance in promoting the ancient jewelry traditions and numismatic heritage of our country. He noted that many of the exhibits, dating back from the Ancient times to the 20th century, will be exhibited for the first time, and they depict our material and cultural heritage; and the most valuable of them is a bronze belt dating back to the 2nd millennium BC.

Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Executive Board of AzerGold CJSC, emphasized the importance of the creation of the museum exposition for the first time, dedicated to our national jewelry art, and noted that ancient jewelry samples and coins, as well as modern high-technology coins, which are the indicators of the economic power of Azerbaijan, are displayed in a single exhibition in mysterious Icherisheher, surrounded by historical walls. According to Zakir Ibrahimov, it shows the respect for our national and cultural values, as well as the importance of the preservation and promotion of our ancient national jewelry traditions.

Mr Ibrahimov stated that the “Treasure” museum exposition will become one of the touristic places, visited by both local and foreign guests, and the displayed exhibits will interest the visitors for sure.

The event also included a presentation of a gold coin collection, dedicated to Icherisheher, by AzerGold CJSC. This coin collection reflects not only the capital Baku, but also the Shirvanshahs Palace, Maiden Tower, Shah Mosque, Double Gates of Baku, as well as other monuments that are included in the Icherisheher architecture. And all these monuments are the pearls of the Azerbaijani architecture.

Following the speeches, the attendees of the event got acquainted with the rich jewelry and numismatic samples at the “Treasure” museum exposition.
