Meeting with the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye at AzerGold CJSC

On January 22, Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Executive Board of AzerGold CJSC received the delegation led by Shebnem Cenk, Director General for Central and West Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye.

The meeting was aimed to discuss the opportunities for cooperation between AzerGold CJSC and Turkish state and private mining companies on the African continent. During the meeting, Zakir Ibrahimov informed the delegation about the achievements, strategic plans of AzerGold CJSC, and the activities for developing the mining sector.

Zakir Ibrahimov noted the successful cooperation experience of AzerGold with relevant state institutions and private companies of the sister country, and mentioned that the implementation of mining projects in African and Central Asian countries is included in the strategic plans of the Company, and that numerous official and business meetings have been held in this direction with relevant institutions of African countries such as Kenya, the Republic of Congo, Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea-Bissau.

Mr Ibrahimov said that AzerGold is also interested in implementing joint projects with Turkish companies in the African continent, which is rich in mineral resources, and in establishing cooperation in both geological exploration and the extraction of non-ferrous and ferrous metals.

In her turn, Shebnem Cenk noted that Türkiye is active in the mining sector in Senegal, Liberia, Algeria, Niger and other countries, and expressed her confidence in Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations, developing in all spheres. Taking into account the potential of African countries, it will be beneficial in terms of establishing new cooperation on the continent, and both Türkiye and Azerbaijan, as well as African countries, will economically benefit from this cooperation, she said.

 At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to determine specific directions of cooperation between AzerGold CJSC and state and private companies of Türkiye for realizing joint projects on the African continent.
