Meeting with journalists involved in Project on Enhancing Media Representatives’ Awareness in the Mining Sector

On January 13, 2025, AzerGold CJSC organized a meeting with journalists involved in the project on Enhancing Media Representatives’ Awareness in the Mining Sector by the support of Media Development Agency (MEDIA).
The head office of AzerGold CJSC hosted the meeting, attended by Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Executive Board of AzerGold, Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of MEDIA, and journalists representing online media entities.
Giving speech at the event, Zakir Ibrahimov mentioned the state consideration to the development of the national press, and highlighted a new development stage of our media, as a result of measures taken to train specialists in this sphere based on modern requirements.
AzerGold CJSC operates based on local legislation and progressive international practice, on principles of transparency, accountability, and openness, and attaches importance to the development of relations with media. The Communication Strategy for 2024-2026 has been prepared and approved, and one of the main smart goals of this strategy is to strengthen cooperation with local media and enhance journalists’ awareness in the mining sector, said Zakir Ibrahimov.
The meeting with journalists who participated in the training and media tour within the project coincided with the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of National Press.
Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of MEDIA, appreciated the noteworthy initiative of AzerGold CJSC to enhance journalists’ awareness in the mining sector, and mentioned that such projects serve to promote the development of 150-year-old Azerbaijani journalism, the development of specialized journalism.
Mr Ismayilov stated that the training and media tour organized in Ganja and Dashkasan within the project gave positive results in enhancing the awareness of media representatives in the mining sector and was one of the important steps towards the specialization of journalists in this field.
Later on, media representatives shared their impressions about the training and media tour, highly appreciated the project and described it as one of the important initiatives for the development of specialized journalism.
Following the speeches, certificates and gifts were presented to the participant journalists.
On December 19-20, 2024, a two-day visit was organized to Ganja city and Dashkasan region for online media journalists within the Project.
During the visit, journalists got acquainted with geological exploration, extraction, processing works in ore fields, sales of precious metals, as well as environmental protection and corporate social responsibility activities in mining regions, social projects, and also visited the Chovdar Integrated Regional Processing Area.
Test tasks were given to the journalists before and after the training to check the level of awareness of journalists about the mining sector within the Project.
