Management of AzerGold CJSC and State Agency for the Use of Mineral Resources visited non-ferrous mineral deposits

Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Executive Board of AzerGold CJSC and Samir Idayatov, Chairman of the State Agency for the Use of Mineral Resources under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, have visited Sheki-Zagatala economic region to inspect several non-ferrous mineral deposits and met with entrepreneurs engaged in exploitation of these deposits.
Meetings were organized in Gakh, Oghuz and Gabala regions for preparing proposals on improving the management of non-ferrous mineral deposits within Azerbaijan and were aimed at understanding the current situation in the fields, getting the proposals of entrepreneurs, and exchanging views on new initiatives.
During the meetings, attended by the authorized representatives of executive powers and of the world-famous Boston Consulting Group Company involved in the process by AzerGold CJSC, documentation process on non-ferrous mineral deposits exploitation and the difficulties faced by market participants were discussed. Q&A sessions were provided for the entrepreneurs at the meetings, and their opinions and suggestions were considered. It was highlighted that meetings with specialized market participants will be continued and the suggestions analyzed.
The objective of these analyses is to increase efficiency and transparency in this sphere, boost control mechanisms, organize activities based on environmental norms and standards and international requirements by applying innovative trends, provide favourable conditions for the local entrepreneurs, and contribute to employment in the regions.
It should be noted that since the beginning of this year, specialists of AzerGold CJSC have also organized visits to Baku, Absheron-Khizi, Guba-Khachmaz, Karabakh, East Zangezur and other economic regions, and inspected more than 70 deposits.
According to the Order signed by President Ilham Aliyev, AzerGold CJSC is assigned to analyze the current situation in the exploitation of non-ferrous mineral deposits by involving reputable international consulting companies, study the relevant market, and based on the conducted analyses results prepare proposals on improving management in this sphere within four months and submit them to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In addition, AzerGold considering the international standards must prepare proposals for improving local standards and submit them to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan within six months, and take necessary measures to resolve other issues arising from this Order.
