Monitoring and meetings have been organized with local communities within the Support for agrarian development in Dashkasan and Goygol regions Project, initiated by AzerGold CJSC and supported by Agrarian Services Agency (hereinafter the Agency) under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On May 23-24, specialists of the Agency and employees of AzerGold CJSC visited the villages of Tulallar and Zurnabad in Goygol region.

During the visit, preventive vaccination procedures of animals by the Animal Health and Veterinary Services Centre of the Agency were monitored, and the animals were examined. Blood samples were taken for laboratory analyses to detect seasonal diseases, and the animal enclosure was disinfected.

Furthermore, the employees of the Plant Protection and Fumigation Centre organized phytosanitary monitoring in the household farming areas. Assessment of plant health affected by pests was carried out and some fruit and vegetable samples were sent to laboratory analysis.

Specialists of the Laboratory, Expertise and Certification Centre took soil and water samples from arable land and pastures and sent them to the central laboratory for analysis.

In addition, the Agricultural Training Centre conducted surveys among the residents, which revealed the agricultural activities of the residents, the most engaged areas, productivity indicators, sales opportunities, socio-economic conditions, and training needs.

Such monitorings and meetings with local communities will also cover the villages of Chovdar, Chaykend, Gushchu (including the so-called Shadakh area), and Bayan of the Dashkasan region. Following the comprehensive study of the monitoring results, an action plan will be prepared to support the development of family and private farms. The project will also include training, professional advice and information services for the residents in this sphere.

It is worth noting that the main objective of the project is to support the development of peasant farms in the regions where AzerGold CJSC operates, and to make additional contributions to the employment and further improvement of the socio-economic status of the residents.
