The Mining Journal of Great Britain dedicated a detailed article to the Dashkasan iron ore project by Dashkasan Demir Filiz (Iron Ore) LLC, a subsidiary of AzerGold CJSC, on its online resources – mining-journal.com and miningnews.net.

The article deals with the re-commissioning of the Dashkasan iron ore field – the largest ferrous metal deposit in the Southern Caucasus – and establishment of an iron production chain with the best international practices and modern technologies. First, a beneficiation plant for iron concentrate production is planned to be built for export-oriented steel production to meet the increasing demand for high-quality raw materials. At the next stage, a pellet producing plant will be built to ensure mechanical and chemical compatibility of the iron concentrate as a raw material. And then the pellet will be directed to HBI plant, which will be built for the production of hot briquetted iron (HBI) with 95 percent iron content as the final product, the article says.

According to the article, the project is meticulously designed to adhere to the latest environmental standards and global sustainability trends from its inception. The use of HBI technology is set to drastically reduce CO2 emissions by up to 60 percent compared to conventional steelmaking processes, with future potential to incorporate green hydrogen, amplifying the commitment to green technology and environmental stewardship.

The economic and social benefits of the Dashkasan iron ore project are vast, and therefore, potential investors show great interest in the project. It promises to significantly impact the Ganja-Dashkasan economic region’s employment index by creating thousands of permanent jobs and fostering socio-economic development.
