“Clean Dashkasan” Environmental Project started in Dashkasan

The environmental project “Clean Dashkasan” was started by the organization of AzerGold Closed Joint-Stock Company and the support of Regional Development Public Union (RDPU) within the framework of the Green World Solidarity Year.

On June 5 – World Environment Day, the employees of AzerGold and the volunteers of RDPU held a clean-up campaign on the banks of the Goshgarchay River, passing through the village of Gushchu of Dashkasan, which is one of the largest water basins of the Minor Caucasus, under the slogan “In Solidarity for a Green World!”. Approximately two hectares of forest along the banks of the river were cleared of plastic, polyethylene, metal, glass, paper, cardboard and other wastes by the participants of the campaign. The collected wastes were sorted and sent for recycling. Bird nests with eco-friendly paints were also hung from trees in Gushchu village.

Note that, the main goal of the “Clean Dashkasan” environmental project is to educate the public about environmental protection, biodiversity protection, the damage caused by household waste to the flora and fauna in Dashkasan region, where AzerGold CJSC carries out mining activities. During the year, such campaigns will be continued in different areas of the region for this purpose, within the environmental project “Clean Dashkasan”.
