AzerGold’s Chairman meets ambassador of Ghana to the Republic of Azerbaijan

The Chairman of the Executive Board of AzerGold Closed Joint Stock Company Zakir Ibrahimov met newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ghana Oheneba Lesli Akua Akyaa Opoku-Vare.
The chairman wished the ambassador success in her diplomatic activity towards strengthening the existing cooperation between the two countries.
Expressing her satisfaction at the start of service in our country, the diplomat noted that during her career, she will use best efforts in fostering friendly relations and cooperative relations and developing economic relations between Azerbaijan and Ghana, especially in the field of mining within the framework of both bilateral and international organizations.
Zakir İbrahimov spoke about the achievements, the strategic plans of "AzerGold" CJSC and the actions taken towards increasing economic efficiency in the mining sector. Referring to the effective application of advanced corporate management principles by AzerGold, which has had a successful experience of cooperation with international companies, chairman noted that further expansion of activities beyond the borders of the country is included in the strategic plans of the Company. The chairman underlined that the African continent, which is rich in mineral resources, is also of interest of the Company.
Ambassador Oheneba Leslie Akua Akyaa Opoku-Ware said that the mining industry is the locomotive of Ghana's economy, and the country has rich resources of gold, diamonds, iron ore, manganese, chromite, oil and gas, as well as hydropower. The ambassador pointed out Ghana’s interest in expansion of cooperation towards promoting exploitation of gold resources, which are the main export products of the country.
Highlighting the investigations carried out by the Company about the mining sector of Ghana, Chairman spoke about potential cooperation prospects, interchange of experience, mutual visits to mines, investment potential. It was pointed out that the Company, which has completely eliminated its dependence on the state budget for gold mines, is open to new and effective initiatives, as well as the exchange of best practices. In this regard, the parties brought into the picture the possibility of evaluating the cooperation prospects with relevant institutions, state and private companies of the mining industry.
Then, parties had a broad exchange of views on the promotion of legal mining, environmental protection, health and labor safety, as well as other topics of mutual interest.
