A commemorative event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of one of the heroic pages in the history of independent Azerbaijan, the January 20 tragedy, was held with the joint organization of AzerGold Closed Joint Stock Company (CJSC), Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping CJSC (ASCO), and the National Azerbaijan History Museum. Along with AzerGold CJSC, the staff of its subsidiaries Dashkasan Iron Ore LLC and AzerBlast LLC attended the January 20 - Chronicle of Heroism interactive event, arranged in the world's first Surakhani Ship Museum.
As part of the event, the participants visited the January 20 Through the Eyes of Artists painting exhibition. They got acquainted with the works of art reflecting the episodes of the event, considered the peak of the freedom struggle of our people, in artistic and aesthetic shades.
At the event, it was noted that the courage shown by our people, who lived in the slavery of the Soviet empire for many years, in the struggle for their sovereignty, accelerated the fall of the Soviet regime and once again demonstrated its criminal nature on a global scale. It was stated that the Bloody January of 1990 was not only a great tragedy but also clear evidence of the high moral power of a nation ready to make any sacrifice to protect its dignity, despite severe discords and injustice.
After that, the exhibition demonstrating personal things of the Bloody January heroes, archival documents, and various materials reflecting the tragedy was viewed. Detailed information was provided on the sailors who fought to the death in Baku Bay on that day and prevented the tragedy from further expanding with their self-sacrifice.
At the end, the Born on January 20 feature-documentary film was shown, shot on ASCO’s initiative, which told about the January 20 events and the bravery of our heroic sailors.
