Meeting between AzerGold CJSC and Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic

Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic hosted a meeting between Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Executive Board of AzerGold Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC), and Khanlar Mustafayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR).

The meeting, held with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was dedicated to the activities of the parties in researching the ferrous and non-ferrous deposits in the territory of NAR and to the coordinated works in this sphere according to the "State Programme for 2020-2024 on the geological subsurface study and efficient use of mineral resources" and "State Programme for 2023-2027 on the socio-economic development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic".

At the meeting, Khanlar Mustafayev informed the participants about the activities in the territory of NAR for environmental protection and efficient use of natural resources. Mr Minister highlighted that the geological research by AzerGold CJSC in the territory of NAR, which had essential role in the development of local mining industry, would contribute to the socio-economic development of the region through new mining projects in the future. He said that the exchange of both historical and geological data and new research materials between the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of NAR and AzerGold would be useful for these purposes.

Zakir Ibrahimov talked about the production activities of AzerGold and the geological explorations in the territory of NAR. He mentioned the impact of the mining activities in Dashkasan and Goygol regions on the economy of the region and on increasing employment. Z.Ibrahimov also gave detailed information about the explorations in  Ortakend gold, Goydagh copper-porphyry and Bashkend copper areas of the Goydagh ore field located in Julfa region, Nasirvaz gold field in the Ordubad region. Zakir Ibrahimov also noted that the research was carried out both on land and from the air in the territory of NAR and talked about the applied non-invasive hyperspectral imaging and innovative aero electromagnetic methods. Mr Ibrahimov said that new mining projects in the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic would make an additional contribution to the country's economy, especially to the socio-economic development of Nakhchivan, employment and well-being of the population in the region, as well as boost social programmes and environmental projects in the settlements close to active mining areas.

Other topics of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting and the parties agreed on the importance of increasing efforts for the development of the mining industry in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
