AzerGold holds meeting with Ambassador of Indonesia to Azerbaijan

Zakir Ibrahimov, the Chairman of the Executive Board of AzerGold CJSC held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Azerbaijan Berlian Helmi.

The meeting addressed opportunities for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Indonesia in the mining and metallurgical sectors, including the development of joint projects, investment partnerships and the expansion of trade relations.

Zakir Ibrahimov briefed the Ambassador on AzerGold’s key achievements over its 10 years of operation, as well as the company’s strategic priorities for its next phase of development. He noted that, with the continued support and attention of the state, AzerGold has built extensive expertise and institutional capacity across the entire mining value chain—from geological exploration and mine development to extraction, processing, and the construction and operation of production facilities.

He highlighted that a primary goal for AzerGold in its next development phase is to expand its international operations, establish partnerships with foreign companies, implement joint projects both in Azerbaijan and abroad, and explore opportunities in new export markets.

Furthermore, Zakir Ibrahimov underscored the opportunities arising from the State Programme for the Development of the Mining and Metallurgical Industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2027–2030. He noted that this strategic document sets key priorities for advancing the sector, particularly by broadening international cooperation and forming new partnerships.

Referring to the State Programme, Ambassador Berlian Helmi noted that several of its priorities align with Indonesia’s development agenda in the mining and metallurgical sectors, creating strong potential areas for bilateral cooperation.

The Ambassador emphasized that Indonesia’s rapidly growing metallurgical industry relies on substantial volumes of imported iron ore and expressed interest in diversifying the country’s sources of raw materials. In this context, he noted that future opportunities for supplying iron ore and higher-value metallurgical products from Azerbaijan to Indonesia should be actively explored.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on potential cooperation models with leading Indonesian mining companies, alongside opportunities to establish direct business-to-business contacts.

Both parties agreed to maintain an ongoing dialogue and explore practical avenues for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, aiming to strengthen business ties and advance the mining and metallurgical partnership between Azerbaijan and Indonesia.
