AzerGold CJSC organized an event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the tragedy of January 20, one of the heroic pages of the history of independent Azerbaijan.
The event was attended by the management and staff of AzerGold CJSC and its subsidiary – Dashkasan Demir Filiz (Iron Ore) LLC, as well as the martyrs’ and veterans’ sons who participated in the Patriotic War.
Unfortunately, 35 years ago Baku witnessed the events of January 20, one of the most serious crimes against humanity. That bloody tragedy had the purpose to suppress our nation protesting the aggressive policy of Armenia, which had territorial claims against our country. Nevertheless, the events of January 20 urged the desire for independence and strengthened the will of the brave Azerbaijani people; our country regained its independence while the Soviet Union collapsed, and the National Leader Heydar Aliyev returned to power with the insistence of the nation. That fight initiated by the martyrs of January 20 was completed with the victory of our army during the 44-day Patriotic War with the participation of the sons of those martyrs under the leadership of the worthy successor of the National Leader, H.E. President Ilham Aliyev, and a brilliant victory over the enemy was achieved. Probably, it was the fate for those fighters to show heroism in the fight against the enemy, like their fathers, and to revenge them.
Those who have participated in the Patriotic War, sons of the martyrs of January 20, shared their impressions of the bloody tragedy and their memories of fighting in the Patriotic War. The war participants, who proudly celebrated the restoration of territorial integrity and state sovereignty under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, highlighted that the struggle for freedom and independence, which have been started with the January 20 events, ended with a brilliant victory over the enemy on the battlefield.
At the end of the event, a documentary film about the January 20 events was screened.
