Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Executive Board of AzerGold CJSC, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Eswatini to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sibusisiwe Mngomezulu.

During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for economic cooperation. Zakir Ibrahimov noted that Azerbaijan maintains extensive and strong international relations and is among the few countries that have signed strategic partnership agreements with many of the world’s leading global powers. He emphasized that, while Azerbaijan has historically been recognized for its abundant oil and gas resources, the country fully satisfies its domestic energy requirements and continues to systematically enhance its export capacity in the energy sector. This demonstrates that Azerbaijan is evolving into a leading force not only regionally but also gradually on a global scale.

According to the Chairman, the availability of oil and gas resources has enabled Azerbaijan to make prudent economic decisions and invest across various sectors, with mining being among the priority areas. As a result of economic reforms, targeted policies, and strategic decisions implemented under the leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev, the mining industry—like other sectors of the economy—has achieved significant progress within a short period.

Zakir Ibrahimov also provided information on the activities of the institution he leads, ongoing projects, and its contribution to the development of the non-oil sector. It was noted that “AzerGold” CJSC currently ranks among the leading state-owned exporters in the non-oil sector, with the company demonstrating positive financial growth year by year.

Ambassador Sibusisiwe Mngomezulu expressed his satisfaction with being in Azerbaijan and highlighted the considerable potential for expanding economic cooperation between the two countries. He underlined that enhancing collaboration in the mining sector would be mutually beneficial. The Ambassador noted that Eswatini possesses substantial mineral resource potential and emphasized the importance of leveraging “AzerGold” CJSC’s advanced experience in the exploration and efficient management of these resources.

Zakir Ibrahimov stressed the importance of conducting accurate mapping of mineral-rich areas and properly assessing resource reserves at the initial stage. He highlighted that the application of modern geological exploration methods and digital technologies contributes to increased efficiency. It was also noted that “AzerGold” CJSC has extensive experience in implementing geological research using innovative and environmentally safe technologies. Furthermore, non-invasive exploration methods enable the identification of promising areas in a shorter timeframe and allow for significant cost savings on expensive drilling operations. The Chairman expressed the company’s readiness to share its experience in this field.

At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and agreed to facilitate the exchange of information to identify cooperation opportunities, including initiating work on a Memorandum of Understanding between the parties.
