AzerGold celebrates World Civil Defense Day

“AzerGold” Closed Joint Stock Company hosted an awareness raising event on “civil defense and management of displaced populations in face of disasters and crises; role of volunteers and the fight against pandemic” on March 1, 2022.

Speaking at the event, Deputy chairman of the Executive Board of AzerGold CJSC, Head of the Emergency Situations Commission Ogtay Mammadov made a speech about the importance of enlightening the personnel. He also pointed out the actions taken jointly with relevant responsible bodies towards ensuring safe working conditions, as well as emergency preparedness. Mammadov noted that civil defense will continue to be built in compliance with modern requirements in all facilities and sites where the Company is functioning, and necessary measures will be taken to protect the population and territories from emergencies.

Then the head of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense Department of Sabail region Nazir Akbarov and the Chief of General Staff for Civil Defense and Fire Protection of AzerGold CJSC Alirza Hamzayev spoke about the importance of preparing every employee for emergencies, as well as the role of volunteers. At the end of the event, fake emergency incident was imitated, and the steps to be taken were demonstrated.

Azerbaijan joined the International Civil Defense Organization in 1993. Due to the increase in natural disasters caused by climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic and the impacts of socio-political crises on communities in recent years, the organization devotes World Civil Defense Day 2022 on “Civil defense and management of displaced populations in face of disasters and crises; role of volunteers and the fight against pandemic". To this end, on March 1, awareness raising events are held around the world, as well as in Azerbaijan under the slogan of "Civil defense and management of displaced populations in face of disasters and crises; role of volunteers and the fight against pandemic."
