The 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was commemorated by AzerGold CJSC and Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum.
The National Carpet Museum hosted the event, attended by the management and employees of AzerGold CJSC and its subsidiaries – Dashkasan Demir Filiz LLC and AzerBlast LLC, as well as the Museum.
Taking the floor, Amina Malikova, Director of the National Carpet Museum, noted that the Khojaly genocide went down in human history as one of the bloodiest crimes of the 20th century, leaving deep wounds in the memories of our nation. The aggressive Armenian state pursued a policy of terror not only against the Azerbaijani people, but also against our cultural heritage and history, the occupant Armenians have attempted to steal our national cultural pearls, as well as Karabakh carpets, along with our lands; but the Azerbaijani state and people have already defeated the enemy and gave the response they deserve, said Amina Malikova.
Delivering speech at the event, Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Executive Board of AzerGold CJSC, mentioned that like the other cities and regions Khojaly has already been liberated from occupation by our victorious army under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, and returned back to its rightful owners, the victims of the tragedy were avenged on the battlefield, and the Khojaly criminals are now facing justice. The residents of Khojaly have been migrating to their native lands since last year, and the anniversaries of the Khojaly genocide are now being commemorated by our people in a rather optimistic mood, said Zakir Ibrahimov.
The event also highlighted the initiatives by First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva to convey the truth about the Khojaly genocide to world and the activities within the Justice for Khojaly international awareness campaign.
It was noted that due to the targeted state policy, the world community has adopted numerous resolutions and decisions condemning the massacre of civilians in Khojaly and evaluating it as a crime against humanity.
The event was followed by a feature-documentary film dedicated to the Khojaly tragedy. The participants of the event were displayed Mother's Cry carpet woven by the residents of Khojaly based on a sketch by Aydin Rajabov, Honoured Artist of Azerbaijan.
