Another seminar on non-ferrous mineral deposits at AzerGold CJSC

AzerGold CJSC hosted another seminar dedicated to the improvement of the management of non-ferrous mineral deposits utilization in Azerbaijan with the participation of relevant state agencies and business entities.

The seminar, organized in accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr Ilham Aliyev, dated 23 December 2024, on improving management of non-ferrous mineral deposits utilization, presented the initial proposals prepared based on the results of research, field trips, surveys and analyses conducted to study the current situation. AzerGold CJSC have involved the world-famous Boston Consulting Group Company in the process and the report prepared by this consulting company covered the current situation and prospects in non-ferrous mineral deposits utilization, improvement of management based on progressive international practices and standards, environmental norms and requirements, and problems faced by the participants of the market.

It was noted that the preparation of proposals serves to increase efficiency and transparency in this sphere, update control mechanisms, adapt local production to the demands of the world market, organize operations based on environmental norms and standards and international requirements by applying innovative methods, ensure favourable conditions for the market participants, and contribute to the social and economic development of the country by establishing new workplaces. The seminar was followed by speeches and a wide exchange of views. At the end of the discussions, the regulatory agencies and companies specialized in the exploitation of non-ferrous mineral deposits were agreed to submit their opinions about the proposals in written form within a week.

According to the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr Ilham Aliyev, dated 23 December 2024, AzerGold CJSC is assigned to analyze the current situation in the exploitation of non-ferrous mineral deposits, study the relevant market, and based on the conducted analyses results, prepare proposals on improving management in this sphere within four months and submit them to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In addition, considering the international standards AzerGold must prepare proposals for improving local standards on the study of non-ferrous mineral deposits, their research, exploration, development and exploitation, and submit the proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan within six months, and take necessary measures to resolve other issues arising from this Order.
