A tree-planting campaign was held at the Chovdar mine on the occasion of the National Revival Day

AzerGold CJSC held a tree-planting campaign at Chovdar mine in Dashkesan region on the occasion of November 17 - National Revival Day.

The staff took part in the action aimed to increase green areas and to preserve the ecological balance. Within the campaign, up to 2,000 seedlings were planted on about 1 hectare area in accordance with local conditions, and also oak seeds were sown on a certain area. Necessary activities, such as watering and agro-technical treatment were taken for new seedlings planted on the area.

Remarkably, as a result of the ecological actions carried out in Chovdar mine so far, more than 10,000 different trees and shrubs were planted, while more than 15 hectares of the territory were landscaped. Moreover, more than 100,000 oak seeds were earlier sown in accordance with agro-technical procedures on about 40-hectare-area for its further use in landscaping.

It is worth noting that, as the mining company engaged in the development of metal ore deposits, AzerGold pays special care to the environmental issues and takes all necessary measures to minimize negative impacts of the extraction process on the environment.

Thus, within the framework of such measures, dust content is regularly measured on the territory of the Company, and water and soil samples taken from the earth, water basins and reservoirs are analyzed under the environmental monitoring program.

Furthermore, all the wastes generated in the course of production process are disposed in accordance with legal requirements, while useless wastes, such as mercury and active carbon, oil, batteries and PET bottles are discharged for recycling.
