AzerGold organizes trainings for beekeepers in Dashkasan

Within the framework of “Support to the development of beekeeping” project implemented in Dashkasan region jointly with Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) AzerGold Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) organized trainings for farmers on April 13-15.

The three-day training was joined by beekeepers from Chovdar, Bayan, Gushchu and Zeylik villages of Dashkasan region. The consultants involved in the project conducted trainings on spring care for bees, methods of disease and pest control, brooding and breeding of queens. At the same time, the expert of the SME Development Center of SMBDA informed the participants about the organizational, legal and economic measures taken to develop entrepreneurship, the favorable environment for business, the mechanism of effective financial support to businesses.

The trainings were held on various topics, such as access to financial resources, provision of agrarian insurance. Besides, the attendees benefited from practical trainings on how to increase the productivity and sustainability of bee families in the apiaries in accordance with veterinary and sanitary rules. Within the framework of the program, methodical booklets were distributed in order to increase awareness on the treatment and prevention of diseases damaging beekeeping, the application of innovations in this field. At the end, the farmers’ questions were answered, and a wide exchange of views took place.

The next stage of the project envisages the issuance of certificates to the participants of the training, as well as the provision of farmers with bee families and relevant equipment, planting nectar-producing trees and shrubs in Dashkasan region.

Notably, with the view to identify opportunities for local communities to benefit from the project, identify difficulties faced by farmers in beekeeping and ways to overcome them, as well as exchange views on initiatives, the members of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of AzerGold CJSC had a meeting with beekeepers on March 31 this year. The main mission of the project is to contribute to the development of small business ecosystems in the region, the promotion of beekeeping as an eco-entrepreneurship and the production of natural honey.

Thus, such actions taken within the Social Impact and Responsibility Policy of AzerGold CJSC serve to not only support socio-economic state programs, but also provide care and welfare to the population living in the vicinity of the area where the Company operates.
