AzerGold Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture initiated and arranged the implementation of the ‘Support for the Development of Potato Farming in the Dashkasan Region’ project.

The project’s major mission is to contribute to developing the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the Company’s production region, promote potato farming as a type of business constituting one of the traditional agricultural fields of the Dashkasan region, and expand the dry farming of potatoes.

Farmers from the Gushchu and Zaylik villages, registered in the Electronic Agricultural Information System of the Ministry of Agriculture, who have at least 1 ha of arable land were involved in the project.

On March 15, 2024, a meeting was held with potato farmers involved in the project at the Dashkasan State Agrarian Development Center of the Ministry of Agriculture. The key objective of the meeting was to inform the farmers of the project, discuss the challenges faced by the farmer during potato farming and ways to overcome them, and study their basic needs. The farmers were informed of the agrotechnical, agrochemical, phytosanitary, pest control, and other complex measures to be taken to protect, restore, improve, and preserve soil fertility.

As part of the project, it is planned to meet the farmers’ basic needs for seeds, services, and goods to achieve high crop yield in a total of 10 ha of farmland and arrange theoretical and practical pieces of training to improve the project participants’ knowledge and skills. At the end of the planting season, 85% of the obtained harvest will be donated to farmers and 15% will be used by the Joint-Stock Company for charity.

It should be noted that the socially oriented measures implemented by AzerGold CJSC according to the state policy serve the development of the region and improve the employment and well-being of the population. Residents of the villages located near the Company's production areas regularly benefit from projects implemented in environmental protection, education, healthcare, employment, entrepreneurship promotion, and other fields.
